HB 1917 Establishing a Washington State Men's Commission Introduced in the House
The Washington State Legislature introduced HB 1917 Establishing a Washington State Men's Commission (that will focus on boys and men) last week. HB 1917 now needs to make it to a public hearing. The committee should make a decision by Tuesday, January 25, so please contact these representatives with phone calls and emails.
If you could simply send two emails a day and/or make two phone calls, you would reach each representative in the course of a week. That would be thousands of contacts reaching each representative over the course of a few days. GIBM is simply asking for 1 hour of your time over the course of the next week to help all of us actualize a boys and men's commission in Washington.
GIBM has worked with EBM to create a downloadable list of representatives that includes names, emails, phone numbers, and bills each representative has previously supported that are in alignment with HB 1917. EBM has worked around the clock these last 8 months to actualize this moment.
(We hope the downloadable file makes it simple for you to contribute)
We have also created shareable images on social media with a QR code that takes people this page.
One of our supporters has identified three groups in Washington to reach out to in support of this bill.
With a contribution from a donor, GIBM has been able to start a social media outreach that has gained traction in the first 48 hours with two more days left on that donation. GIBM plans on expanding the social media push with new images and memes this week. With more funding, GIBM believes it can reach tens-of-thousands of Washingtonians by Sunday, January 23.
We have also had tremendous support from some of the leading researchers in the country and other organizations who are using their staff and resources to support HB 1917.
So many people have been contributing in various ways.
But we are not out of the woods, and our voices are still in the wilderness crying out for support.
Please join us and do what you can to actualize HB 1917!
